Marshal Andy and Eddy Arnold

Marshal Andy and Eddy Arnold became friends back in the early 1980’s. Andy was introduced to him by Archie Campbell, and they were close friends until his death in 2008. Arnold once told Smalls, “Andy, you are one of my real, true friends. Most people just want something from me.”

The Knoxville Cowboy is quoted as saying, “I didn’t just want to sound like Eddy Arnold, I wanted to be Eddy Arnold,” and has always made Eddy Arnold a part of his radio career. The start of his programs always include the opening yodel in “Cattle Call” and the first section of “Eddy’s Song.” Marshal Andy also made a CD devoted to his late friend titled Marshal Andy Salutes His Hero, Eddy Arnold.
